Ventolin inhalers are prescribed for the relief of bronchospasm and exercise-induced bronchospasm. They provide relief from symptoms when symptoms of asthma are present. VENTOLIN INHALER is an inhaled bronchodilator and is also used to treat asthma.
Ventolin inhaler comes in two formulations, Ventolin Inhaler 100 micrograms and Ventolin Inhaler 200 micrograms. Each of the inhalers contain the active ingredient salbutamol.
The Ventolin Inhaler 100 micrograms is used to relieve symptoms of asthma such as wheezing, shortness of breath, coughing and chest tightness. The Ventolin Inhaler 200 micrograms is used to treat symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) such as difficulty breathing or coughing. Ventolin Inhaler 100 micrograms is prescribed to children who are aged below 5 years. The treatment of COPD is only provided under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
Ventolin Inhaler is also used to prevent bronchospasm in patients with asthma who have a history of asthma. It is not effective for all patients. The use of Ventolin inhalers is not recommended for patients who have a known allergy to salbutamol, have a history of asthma, or have a history of asthma, heart, kidney or liver disease.
